Sguardo in su ... Trieste
by Bertus
Neoclassico
casa Biasoletto (1810)
via Rossini 10

A fun bas-relief acts as a front ornament on the house. In it are reproduced numerous cherubs representing the various arts.
On the far left side there are two of them in an unequivocal loving attitude while a third tries to divide them. The putto who "suffers the violation" is a faun, with the unmistakable porcine legs covered with thick fleece.
The faun, in the mythological reading, is the emblem of masculinity, the ancient God Pan, protector of orgiastic love.
The work was carried out by Antonio Bosa (pupil of Canova) who probably wanted to pass on a "joke" to us, perhaps he was misunderstood or went unnoticed even by the client himself.
