ARDUINO BERLAM

He was born in Trieste on July 20, 1880; son of the architect Ruggero Berlam and grandson of the architect Giovanni Andrea Berlam.

After obtaining a classical high school diploma in Trieste, from 1889 to 1904 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera and at the Polytechnic of Milan; he then returned to Trieste, where in 1905 he began working with his father.
Active above all in Trieste, he designed not only houses and palaces, but also monuments and interiors of the ships Saturnia and Vulcania.
His most famous works are:

     the Scala dei Giganti (1905-1907, (with his father)
     the Israelite Temple (1906-1912, (with his father)
     the Palazzo della RAS (1910-1914), (with his father)
     the Faro della Vittoria (1923-1927), of which he was also a promoter
     the Palazzo Aedes (1924-1928).

He died in Tricesimo in 1946.
